Stars and Stripes
With the election over and presumably a new era just around the corner, couldn't we all use a drink? Start with Stars and Stripes, a floater cocktail that is sure to show everyone with you that "these colors don't run," at least if you float the layers carefully.
This drink is definitely on the sweeter side, but the cream helps to balance the grenadine and the blue curacao gives it a little bit of a fruity flavor. If you are already planning a party or your own private celebration for Inauguration Day.
A few tips for building this cocktail - when pouring the middle and top layers over the bar spoon, hold the spoon with the back of the spoon facing up and holding it relatively flat. Pour the ingredients slowly, closer to the stem of the spoon than the edge. Also, be sure to wipe down your jigger and your spoon in between ingredients to prevent mixing.
Congratulations to all of those who voted for Obama and a sincere thanks to all of you who got out there to vote! Ready or not, we are entering a new political and historical era.
