Absinthe Cocktail Recipe

The Absinthe Cocktail became especially popular in Paris at the turn of the 20th century, especially among Parisian artists and writers affiliated with bohemian culture.

Although absinthe liquor itself is a bit more potent than other cocktail ingredients, it doesn't hold any special powers beyond that of other alcohol, despite various legends and lore of the time.

While there are a few different ways to make this cocktail, the following recipe is for the traditional "drip" method. In this day and age, it may be difficult to find a slotted spoon to prepared the cocktail properly and in such a case, a tea strainer can be used instead.

How to make an Absinthe Cocktail

Start by pouring 1 oz of Absinthe into a short glass. Using a slotted spoon or a tea strainer, hold 1 Sugar Cube over the glass and slowly drip Ice Water over the sugar cube and into your drink until the sugar is completely dissolved. Your drink will be cloudy and ready to serve.

Enjoy responsibly with friends!
